BAM hosted International artists and arts managers in Brooklyn for two weeks of professional development as part of DanceMotion USA℠’s first PDP program.

ABOUT THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

In August 2016, five international artists and arts managers participated in a two-week Professional Development Program (PDP) in conjunction with the BAM Education department and Creative Capital. The five international artists were paired with five local artists as partners in learning throughout the two-week program.  

International participants (nominated by Artistic Directors of Dance Heginbotham and Limón Dance Company) were artists and arts managers from Indonesia, Laos, Madagascar, and Zambia.

The group took part in Creative Capital’s summer intensive, including workshops in business planning, strategic and visibility marketing, social media, and mission building.They also toured cultural spaces, went to open rehearsals with DMUSA alumni companies, participated in roundtable discussions, and visited Jacob’s Pillow Festival.
